The Best Blu-ray Ripper Software for Mac Review (2013)

Although Mac computers do not come with Blu-ray drive by default, many Mac users are inclined to purchase Blu-ray discs for the better picture quality and experiences. As a result of Blu-ray protections, people can't backup their Blu-ray movies, play on another device, or share with friends easily. In this case, a Blu-ray ripper program will be needed. Here I will introduce a couple of the best Blu-ray Riper software for Mac.

1. DVDFab

Price: $60/1-Year
Key features: Blu-ray AACS/BD+ ripping

DVDFab is a very popular video software brand no matter you refer to DVD to Blu-ray. In terms of  Blu-ray ripping, it handles AACS, BD+, region code as well as Cinavia protections. It proceeds fast on most BD discs, shows fairly stable performance and allows various output formats. While similar Mac Blu-ray ripper software supports both DVD and Blu-ray, DVDFab supports Blu-ray exclusively, at a relatively higher price (at least $10 more).

2. imElfin Blu-ray Ripper

Price: $39.99/1-Year
Key features: Protected and unprotected Blu-ray/DVD Ripping

imElfin Blu-ray Ripper is comprehensive Blu-ray program, supporting protected and unprotected Blu-ray/DVD Ripping. Although it is not yet known to the public, it functions swiftly and stably, even better than many everywhere software such as Aiseesoft and Xilisoft. It presets nearly all common devices/formats as output, offering practical video editing, 2D-to-3D conversion, and preview-before-rip features. One short is that only BD/DVD folders and discs are accepted as input, excluding BD/DVD ISO files. But the decrypting and converting abilities are overall pretty good.

3. PavTube Blu-ray Ripper

Price: $34.3/1-Year
Key features: Blu-ray/DVD AACS/BD+ ripping
PavTube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac
PavTube Mac Blu-ray Ripper supports different types of Blu-ray input including BDMV folder, BD ISO and BD discs (protected and unprotected) apart from DVD discs, ISO and IFO files. With the backup option, users are able to backup the Blu-ray or DVD movies to local drive with one click. 2D videos to 3D conversion is supported, too. As to the ripping itself, however, PavTube shows less satisfactory performance and converts slowly.

There are other Mac Blu-ray ripping software on the market, which shows fair performances but does not stand out specially, such as Aimersoft Blu-ray Ripper and Leawo. Since rare Blu-ray ripping programs are free offered, I recommend you to free-try and make sure it works before purchasing a program. What's more, take full advantage of the preview feature delivered by the program, if available, since a BD/DVD movie will have little problem to be ripped or converted once it has no problem to be played (previewed).
